Overview

CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (CBA) is an introductory qualification for students new to business and accountancy profession. This  qualification provides a strong business foundation and is equally applicable for school leavers as an alternative to a degree, finance trainees, support staff in a financial environment, small business owners and non-financial managers. It provides a pathway straight into the full CIMA professional qualification as well as being a stand alone qualification in its own right.

Entry Requirements

Anyone with over 16 years of age and no formal qualification can enter. This qualification is open to anyone wishing to start a career in accounting and finance profession.

Tuition Fee

€3800 per year

Duration

12 months

Hours of Study

16 hours per week of formal classroom study. Students are also expected to study in their own time.

Assessment

Assessment is through examinations set by CIMA

Course Structure

CO1 Fundamentals of Management Accounting
CO2 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
CO3 Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
CO4 Fundamentals of Business Economics
CO5 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

On successful completion of CBA, student will be awarded Certificate in Business Accounting.

After CBA

You could work in a variety of accounts-support roles including:

•a junior accounts clerk/junior bookkeeper role in an small or medium-sized enterprise

•a range of junior accounting administration roles within an accounting department of a larger organisation or financial shared service centre.

You can progress on to studying professional CIMA qualification.
